Any church that understands the Great Commission supports missions efforts at home and abroad

In past years, there have been different causes for my post-holiday letdown. Sometimes it’s the disappointment of the day itself. Other times, I realize my favorite time of year has an expiration date.

In answering these questions, we have to remember that the reality of human sleep is not a new, recent, or modern phenomenon. It can actually trace its origins all the way back to the beginning of scripture.

Strategically, Satan can do a great deal of harm to the church when he can play a role in the fall of a pastor. Pastors therefore should understand they are the special objects of attack.

...What were the words of Jesus during his life and ministry? Words revealing the meaning of sin. Words calculated to rebuke sin and to bring men away from sin. What were the works of Jesus?

....Although using games for harmless diversion and amusement may be a lawful use of leisure for Christians, there are some real spiritual dangers associated with gaming.

Imagine with me that on Christmas morning, one of the gifts you receive is a small box. You hold it in your hands, and it isn’t very heavy. Inside you find a key. Would you be excited?

...You see, we are often taught to be on guard for enemies outside of the church but often the most destructive people are, as the Israelites experienced, those within our midst.

...We are either moving into winter or out of it and into summer. These are the seasons of life. Some winters are hard. Some are harder than others. But God gives us winters in order that grace might grow.

...Even a focus on His entire first coming—as vitally important as that is—does not tell us everything about this Jesus, God in human flesh. For, just as He came once, He assured us clearly, “I will come again.”

No Bible miracle seems more offensive to modern man than the virgin birth.

Jesus was born when “the time came.” The time came, not just for the fulfillment of Mary’s pregnancy, but for the fulfillment of God’s pre-world plan to become a divine human being.

...We owe Jesus everything. He owes us nothing. But that doesn’t keep God from choosing to serve us, His servants. Jesus served us when He died for us.

We are all familiar with the story of Christmas, but let’s dig a little deeper into this season that points to Jesus, the perfect Savior, who entered the world at the perfect time to save imperfect humanity.

...We Christians have failed often and sometimes miserably to make a full use of Christ’s gift of peace. But Christ’s achievement and gift of peace remains, even if neglected or rejected. 

This time of year, it’s important to lift our gaze from earth to Heaven. Don’t focus on trees, lights, and presents. Instead, fix your gaze on the higher reality those things point to: Christ.

...The salvation that God planned and purposed before all ages and that Jesus came to bring to all peoples is found in Him alone. we can say that Christmas is a declaration that Jesus is the only way...

May we contemplate Jesus Christ this season as more than simply the babe in the manger. He is the Prince of Peace and the Sun of Righteousness who brings us healing from our sins and death...
